Seminar: Herts Mentoring Scheme to Help Coach Level 1s and 2s and an Open Discussion with BE Coaching Manager, Katherine Taylor Saturday 8th September. 13 coaches attended a great session to progress helping with the mentoring process and clearing up a number of other coaching concerns. Herts Coaching Conference

122 Herts coaches attended on Sunday 24th February 2008 1at University of Hertfordshire Sports Village.   There were excellent sessions presented by top coaches and speakers. 

HBA was the only sport to have its own stand: Gill Bartlett seen here speaking with a prospective Level 1 coach.

Multiskills Course

Many of our coaches want to know about multiskills not only for personal development but as an entrée to schools that are increasingly requiring multiskills sessions.

 

These scUK workshops are accredited and last, on average, 3 hours, with certificates awarded to all that attend.  The average cost per candidate is between £10 and £15.

Mental Skills Guide for Badminton

Dr Sarah and Dr Elizabeth Partington, Lecturers in Sports Psychology at Northumbria University, have worked with us to produce a practical guide for coaches, parents, players and teachers.

This resource has been designed as a practical step-by-step guide for people with little or no sport psychology training. Activities have been written for young people from FUNdamentals through to Peak Performance. Price £14.99  Soon to be available to borrow via HSP Coaches Resource Library

Criminal Records Bureau checking procedure:

  • Apply for a form from the CRB Department at Milton Keynes by phone (01908 268400) or post.
  • Complete the form in black ink and fill in all the boxes as requested.
  • If you are a volunteer it is imperative that you mark the appropriate box.   Failure to do so will involve us invoicing you for the charge that the CRB will make to us.
  • Present the document verification form, with supporting documents, to an appropriate person, as listed.
  • Ensure that your payment for the correct amount is enclosed (made payable to the Badminton Association of England).

Rackets from the Badminton Association of England

Useful rackets for juniors can be bought from the BE.  The shorter junior racquets (see picture, right - £8.75+VAT each) have an oval grip which encourages backhand and forehand grips rather than panhandle.  See more pictures and order form

 

 
     

Details of the Government's Physical Education, School Sport and Club Links strategy 'PESSCL' 

There are 12 Partnerships in Herts each receiving up to £275,000.  Each Partnership has a 'Hub' school, or sports college, that will form links with up to 6 other secondary schools and these in turn will have up to 6 junior school links to promote and develop PE and sport within and after school hours.  We need coaches to provide school badminton clubs in 120 schools in Herts! Can you help?
