Gosling Sports Park and Welwyn Hatfield Celebrates the Refurbishment of the Sports Hall

The ribbon-cutting was performed by Welwyn Hatfield's Mayor Michael Long ably assisted by International Wheelchair Badminton Champion, Gobi Ranganathan and Olympic Medallist J Goode.

The Community Club Development Programme project team comprised representatives from Sport England, BADMINTON England, Herts Badminton Association and Gosling Sports Park Management. Funding for the refurbishment came from Sport England due to the support from BADMINTON England.

As well as the very enjoyable Opening ceremony  we had singles demonstrations from county under 11 juniors and Jo and Gobi playing with many people.,

demonstrations from Gobi Ranganathan, wheelchair singles doubles international  who played with Jo Goode Olympic Bronze medallist and several children an adults.  Families and individuals enjoyed playing casually,  too.

The bright new sports hall is a pleasure to play in for all - and it will accommodate badminton play up to national level.  The CCDP team will be working together over the coming months and years to ensure the facilities are well utilised by all sections of the community at large.
