The new sports centre, dedicated to badminton during community use, had its formal but exciting opening on Wednesday 23rd September.  Headteacher Bernadette Jenkins opened the ceremony and Gail Emms, MBE, (above) provided the evening's Guest of Honour, Opening Ceremony address. HBA Chairman, Malcolm Fraser, MCed the demonstration matches which were provided by junior and senior county squads and Gadebridge Juniors.  Coaching by Herts coaches were ably assisted by Gail - many participants just didn't want to go home!  Click here for more photos.  See full write-up in next HBA Newsletter in October.

BE Annual Players Diary For 2009/10

'In the Senior Calendar there have been a few exciting changes and BADMINTON England is delighted to reveal an increase in the number of Open Circuit Tournaments in the 2009/10 season.  The Challenger Circuit now has eight tournaments (in comparison to last year’s seven), the Satellite Circuit has an additional two, and the Orbital Circuit has increased by four tournaments, making the Orbital Circuit a massive 16 event Circuit.

By competing in these three different Circuits throughout the year, players will accrue Circuit Points. The players and pairs with the highest scoring Circuit Points will be invited to compete at the Circuit Finals at the end of the season. They will be held at the National Badminton Centre, Milton Keynes which will be held on 29th May 2010.'
