In our group we beat Yorkshire, Durham and the number 2 seeds Lancashire 6-4.
In the semi finals we lost narrowly 6-4 to Notts and then had to play Lancashire again for third spot which we did, this time 7-3. Lanarkshire won overall with many of the Scottish team players.
Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves and are looking forward to next year (as all the team will still be U19 next year).
On behalf of the players, thanks for the HBA contribution.

This is the second year we have run a junior tournament in North Herts. Although postponed from December there were 60 participants and we filled the 4 Knights Templar (Baldock) courts for nearly 4 hours. Many entrants came from Willbury and The Grange schools but there were also many from a variety of other schools and clubs. There were singles and doubles in each age group and this too went well except we could have done with more U13 girls. Medals were given to winners and finalists, and certificates, free coaching offers and lollipops to everyone! We would like to thank all the scorer/helpers without whom it would not have been possible. Bluebirds Junior Club has been granted a
second Lottery Award, this time for £3943. This will, amongst other things, allow us to extend the club down to 7 year olds, provide better support to the older Juniors (e.g. a digi-cam is financed), train some Leaders and First-Aiders and run an all-day Junior Competition at Harlow Sports Centre. And, of course, we will be able to keep the cost to the Juniors minimal. As always, the web site http://bluebirds.org.uk has all the latest information. See more in the HBA September Newsletter.Richard who was ranked 4th in Mens singles only a year ago, and is a Level 2 Coach, will be working part-time for developing badminton in Herts. See more in our September Newsletter.
