The Past Week from John Fuller

·         On Monday evening I made a presentation to the St Albans Priory Rotary Club, a well attended evening with commitments to support the Talented Athlete Scheme and the Partnership by the Rotarians plus an award to a talented netball player of £500.  There was much interest in the presentation and the potential for working together.

·         On Tuesday I attended the LGA Officers Focus Group with LOCOG present where we discussed the next stage for Live Sites.  Lorna Stevens has been liaising with District leads to gauge interest and if you do want to be considered as a possible site or want any more information please contact her at Lorna.Stevens@dacorum.gov.uk
The group also discussed the proposed Local government sponsorship offer for the 2008 Beijing
Games and the opportunity for districts to increase participation in sport and leisure activities to build momentum in the run-up to the 2012 Games.  I will write separately to the districts with feedback but 2012 district leads can still respond to the earlier request to Claire at claire@weavercreative.co.uk.

·         On Wednesday I visited Olympic Park site as well as the new Canoe Slalom site and view of the model. You can find details of the site at http://www.london2012.com/documents/venue-documents/broxbourne-leaflet.pdf  and trips to both are to be organised from July/August for key officers and groups.

·         On Thursday the Chief Leisure Officers Association (CLOA) Executive meeting had a good discussion on key issues including Tourism and 2012

That's my news in brief but please do feel free to contact me if you would like to know more about any of the above events at john@hertsprosperity.com
